A truly beautiful and completely individual vintage handmade 9ct gold Australian opal ring, created especially around the natural shape of this spectacular opal.
The Australian opal is the centrepiece of the ring, with an unusual freeform triangular shape and a wonderful dark body tone. Across its surface are striking flashes of electric green, blue, red and orange, which change beautifully as the stone catches the light.
What makes this ring particularly special is its handmade 9ct gold setting. Rather than cutting the opal to fit a conventional mount, the gold has been individually worked around the natural contours of the stone. Sweeping ribbons of polished gold curve around the opal, forming an elegant and slightly abstract frame while allowing the gemstone to remain the absolute focus.
The ring has been cleaned and polished with care and is presented in excellent vintage condition, ready to be worn and cherished once again.
